The second issue of the journal "Полилог/Polylogos" for 2018 contains articles devoted to a wide range of topics: from the specifics of social policy in contemporary Russia to the representation of power practices in the art of modernism; from the crisis of the post-Soviet model of self-identification in Russian society to the problems of mutual influence of capitalism and scientific and technological progress and so on. The authors of the works that the reader can read in this issue are philosophers, historians and political scientists: both established authors and young specialists in the humanities.
The issue is opened by an article by a professor at the Higher School of Economics, Doctor of Economic Sciences Evgeny Gontmakher. The article is based on the text of the lecture delivered by the expert in the framework of the scientific and educational lecture "Time to think" on the basis of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Political Science of GAUGN. In the article "Information and Communication", Doctor of Philosophy, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences Georgy Levin analyzes the most important concepts of modern science at the junction of the humanitarian and natural-scientific approaches. PhD in Political Science, Leading Researcher of the Faculty of Political Science of the Moscow State University Alexandra Yakovleva explores the role of the idea of "the spirit of capitalism" and its transformation for the development of modern Russian science. PhD in Political Science, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences Denis Letniakov, analyzes the phenomenon of diversity in the context of the discussion about the identity crisis and the lack of national consolidation in post-Soviet Russia. The work of DSc in Philosophy, Senior researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences Rimma Sokolova is devoted to the factor of the "genetic code of civilization" applied to the history of the Russian state. PhD Elena Chertkova, Senior Researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, considers in her article two ways to the "ideal" of man - humanistic and technocratic, differing in their understanding of man and differently determining the strategy of his development.
Also in the current issue there is an article by the Master of Poliical Science of GAUGN, Pavel Prilepsky, in which the author reflects on the question: is globalization possible with Chinese characteristics, and if so, in what way is this specificity manifested? Finally, in the rubric of reviews of new publications on humanitarian issues, PhD in Political Science, at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences Veronika Sharova turns to the book of art historians G.Napreyenko and A.Novozhenova "Episodes of Modernism: From the Origins to the Crisis", having seen a significant philosophical and political potential of reasoning about the art of modernism in Russia - the Soviet Union - and again in Russia.
