The Online Archive “Social Sciences”
Under the project for establishing of online archives of scientific materials, implemented by GAUGN in 2020 with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, two thematic groups were formed in the areas of scientific research: “Social Sciences” and “International Relations and Historical and Philological Sciences”.
The concept of the project involves the creation of an extensive database of monographs, materials of scientific conferences, including video recordings of lectures and reports. Collections of issues of scientific journals of the Russian Academy of Sciences should become the core of the online archives. So, the direction “Social Sciences” covers the widest range of areas of scientific knowledge and includes issues of such well-known journals with a long history, such as “State and Law” (ISL RAS) “Psychological Journal” (IP RAS), “Sociological Research” (FCTAS RAS), “Economics and Mathematical Methods” (CEMI RAS) and many others. In addition, in the online archive in the direction of “Social Sciences” there are also new academic publications that combine scientific and educational components: “Polylogos” (Faculty of Political Science GAUGN), “Transcendental Journal” (Faculty of Philosophy GAUGN).
In this regard, it is important to note the high scientific, practical, cultural and educational value of creating a system of open access online archives, since their use in schools and universities will contribute to the further development of the integration of science and education by actively introducing the latest achievements of scientific thought into educational activities.
The Collection of the Socio-Humanitarian Journals of the RAS Will Become the Core of the Online Archives
The State Academic University for the Humanities (GAUGN) is actively working to establish the online archives of scientific materials in the areas of International Relations and Historical and Philological Sciences and Social Sciences (arxiv.gaugn.ru).
Under the project, it is planned to recreate the complete collection of issues of scientific journals of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the social and humanitarian profile, in addition to which the online archives will include monographs, collections of articles, materials of scientific conferences, video recordings of lectures and reports presented at scientific events. At present, about 200 video recordings have already been placed in the public domain and over 40,000 scientific articles published in journals of the Russian Academy of Sciences have been digitized.
It is assumed that the creation of a system of open access online archives will further increase the publication activity of scientific organizations, as well as interest in publications and monographs in the social sciences and humanities, becoming an important support for new scientific research.
The project is being implemented by GAUGN with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation under the federal program “Research and Development in Priority Areas of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014—2020”.

Alexander Chubaryan on the Establishing of the Online Archives of Scientific Materials
The State Academic University for the Humanities (GAUGN) has begun to establish online archives of scientific materials in the areas of “International Relations and Historical and Philological Sciences” and “Social Sciences” (arxiv.gaugn.ru). The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation under the federal program “Research and Development in Priority Areas of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014—2020”.
The president of GAUGN, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Oganovich Chubaryan considers the creation of online archives of scientific materials an extremely important and promising task. In his opinion, establishing of the archives can not only allow preserving the scientific achievements of the Russian science, but also become an important help for conducting new scientific research:
“As a historian, I am personally familiar with the difficulty of finding the necessary information for research. Scientists can spend quite a long time trying to find it in the printed archives, which can be spent on research on their projects. I would also like to emphasize the relevance of creating archives for young people: the availability of the necessary information online will allow you to study sources anywhere in the world, which will have a beneficial effect on educational and scientific processes”.
